English Business 2 - Task 2 Food : My Fav Food In Jogjakarta

I Swear I will treat it when you come. MY FAV FOOD IN THIS CITY. MAKNYUSS

I am a person who bad culinary taste. I’m Omnivore haha. Basically all the food which is halal and decent I definitely eat it. So it is little bit hard for me to distinguish a recommend food. Please forgive me if it not like it hehe. This is one of the most famous food in this city and I recommend to you when you going to go Jogjakarta and back to your city.

Took in early 2014

This first recommendation is a kind of drink containing glutinous rice balls containing nuts, a bit of fresh bread and kolang kaling. Served with warm ginger water. The ginger will refreshing your throat, sweet and but not to much sweet. Chewed the Glutinous balls and feel the sensation of broken beans or sweet Java sugar. Very recommend to drink at night. Especially after the rain. Usually sold on the sidewalk with a cart. Can be found in Malioboro street or around the corner of the city. Or in the square of the Sultan's Palace. Name of this drink is “Wedang Ronde”.
Alun-Alun Kidul, spotted many Wedang Ronde's sellers

This drink remembered me to this city. When I was a teenager and grow in this city, I never had tried a wedang rode, but since I moved to Jakarta and every time I went home I always had this drink. I can drink twice in a time wkwk. I have tasted drink like this in Jakarta, but the taste are not the same and I found like other components like milk and more rolls. I usually drink with my brother or friends in the Alun-alun Selatan or in Malioboro street. It feels “Mak nyuss”. Just take about 5 until 10 thousand rupiah for a cup.
A box of bakpia, maknyuss

Second, I also recommend a pastry. When I come back to Jakarta, I always saw this pastry box in train’s cabin. It is sweet roll and tasteful with many different filling. You can choose the filling that you like, durian, chocolate, cheese, mung beans, and others. But you have to try mung beans first, because it’s the original one. The thin skin made from glutinous rice flour. Crunchy and just left for a week after we made. The most popular store who sell this pastry is Pathok 25, in Malioboro. They sell about 30 thousand rupiah for a box. You will get a cheaper one when you buy in Beringharjo market. This Pastry widely known as Bakpia or Bakpia Pathok. 255, 25, 313, 414 and others number haha. I always bring it when I back to Jakarta and share it with my colleagues.

“Ayo neng Jogja, mengko tak traktir wedang ronde karo Bakpia ngo oleh-oleh hehe. “Come here Jogjakarta, and I will treat a free wedang ronde and Bakpia to take home!!”
